Hey WeGamers,
This week, we bring you another major feature. Internally, we have been calling it World of WeGame :)
We’ve constantly been brainstorming on ways to make the WeGame experience more engaging. As a gaming site, we thought the best way to appeal to our audience is to make the experience a game in itself!
You will notice you have a new userbar at the bottom of the site that has some of the old features, but also includes a brand new experience bar. As you do various things around the site like upload videos, comment on screenshots, etc.. you will earn experience and currency. When you do an action that earns you something, a message will appear in the message area of the userbar, like so:
Instead of me blabbering on and on, here are all the new things World of WeGame brings to the site:
Earn Experience & Currency via Actions
Start exploring the site and do things like upload, comment, and like! You will discover that certain actions will give you XP and WeGame currency!
Unlock Achievements
We’ve put quite a few achievements that you can unlock in the system. It’s up to you to start exploring and unlock them! If you want a hint, start uploading a lot or visit the site every day :). You will notified that you unlocked an achievement in the message area or Notifications menu. For a list of achievements, please see this forum post.
Level Up!
When you earn enough experience, you will automatically level up. You can earn experience by doing Actions or unlocking Achievements.You will notified that you leveled up in the message area or Notifications menu.
We hope you enjoy the new WeGame experience. There has been so much that has been added this release, so we can’t list them all out here. It’s up to you to go out and discover everything! We will be adding a lot of stuff to this system in the coming days, so please send us feedback with what you want to see. Here are some notes to answer some common questions:
- If you are a current registered user and have lots of videos, screenshots, likes, comments, wall posts, you may have already unlocked a lot of achievements. To have these achievements kick in, do one of each action you can think of. Example: view each of your videos/screenshots, like a random video, comment on a random video, friend somebody, etc.. If you suddenly earn many levels, achievements, this is expected.
- As of right now, levels do not give you special abilities. This will change in the future.
- As of right now, you cannot use currency to purchase anything. This will change in the future.
- In the near future, your profile will show which achievements you have unlocked and which ones you still need to.
- Your current level and currency can be viewed by clicking your username in the bottom userbar. This will show your User menu with all kinds of goodies.
- Other users’ levels are not displayed around the site yet, this will change VERY soon.

Is there an option to turn it off? I find it pretty annoying. If I wanted to be on Facebook, I’d be on Facebook.

Yeah its almost identical to Newgrounds – it works brilliantly there so why not here.
Just make sure you don’t make it too mandatory to fit in to the community, cos’ i think a lot of the enjoyment of this site comes purely from viewing loads of random stuff, not writing essays about it for achievements and making collabs’
I could be wrong…

i like it! just hope it doesn’t cause people to just post stupid videos and post stupid comments to get more “xp” but besides that seems like a pretty tight system!

Well, I’d prefer a better structure/layout of the Videos and Screenshots sections,
selectable Categories I want to see and those I don’t want to see,
and not those big, massive featured or most viewed areas that don’t interest me or will stay there even after I watched them.
This could become something good and interesting, but I fear you’re overdoing it…
“special abilities” and “buy things”??? :/
I hope it’ll turn out good, and not bad as the layout changes in my opinion.
