WeGame Client 1.10 Released!

Hey guys,

The WeGame team has been busy slaving away for the last few months putting this latest client together. It’s a major update that brings some cool new features and fixes some major bugs. Full info below:

[NEW FEATURE] Flash Game Recording (BETA)
Now you can use the WeGame client to record your favorite Flash games directly from your browser! When you update to the latest version of the WeGame client, you will be prompted to select a browser to record from. Just select whichever browser you primarily play Flash games with and you’re all done. The next time you are playing a Flash game simply hit your WeGame Record key and all recordable Flash games will have a blue border drawn around them. Click the one you want to record and its border will turn red and recording will begin. To stop recording, just hit your WeGame Record key again and your video will be ready. Note: this feature is still BETA, so there might be some bugs here and there. Please report whatever problems you have with this feature to help@wegame.com.

[NEW FEATURE] H.264 Encoding on the Client
Videos uploaded from the client are now in H.264. You should see significant improvement in quality in your client recorded videos.

[ENHANCEMENT] Hooking System Improved
We had some issues with hooking games that had EXE names that would change frequently when a new patch was release. We have now implemented a psychic future-telling device that will allow the WeGame client to continue to hook these games regardless of updates.

[BUG FIX] “Crash on Startup” Has Been Fixed
For all users that could never start the WeGame client because it crashed, I am happy to announce that this bug has been fixed. Please download the latest version of the client.

Hope you find this latest version enjoyable! If you have any bugs to report about for this release, please e-mail us at help@wegame.com.

  • Awesome, this will be a great change for the client.

  • Crashes on startup in Windows 7 beta 1 x64. To fix this, run WeGame in Vista compatibility mode.

  • This still does NOT fix the crashing explore one :(

Any hope of a ETA on that one?

  • Richwarf: Which “Crashing explorer” bug are you talking about? When does it crash and what shows up? A screenshot would be helpful.

  • Bob,

Windows 7 is not supported as I’m sure you know. ;)

Richwarf, it sounds like you’re describing this problem: http://help.wegame.com/My-videos-cause-a-COM-Surrogate-Error

If this does not fix the problem, you can also try installing the codec pack mentioned here: http://help.wegame.com/My-videos-come-out-black

  • Does the new “Hooking System” download a list of exe names from wegame.com….?

  • MASA,

The client has been grabbing the list of supported games from the website for almost a year now. (I wrote the code that does it.)

This lets us add support for games without needing to do a full-fledged client update.

The update to the hooking system here makes it more reliable overall. There were a few cases where certain games (e.g. WoW) would refuse to let us hook into the process. Now, they have no choice. :)

  • “Flash Game Recording (BETA)”

This is what makes WeGame superior to Fraps now.:)

  • If i try to play a video i just captured it does play but its says Explorer needs to shut down.
I can play other avi files. Only the ones i recorded with WeGame..

  • Will not work on Windows 7 build 7068 x86. Even in (any) compatibility mode. Crashes or hangs. Anybody else have this? Windows 7 is the future people lets get to it!

  • Windows 7 is not released, but the latest client should work on it.

  • I am having the same problem as Richwarf and Red. When I try to open up a Wegame video I get an error that Windows explorer has crashed and needs to restart, and it closes all my folders so I must renavigate to the videos. And when I accidently deleted them, windows explorer would crash as soon as I opened the Recycling Bin.
It also crashes WoW when I maximize/minimize/resize the WoW window.
    I am running Windows Vista
    2.4GhZ Quadcore
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 1GB Graphics Card
    3GB of Ram
    500GB Hard Drive

  • The issue that Robert, Richwarf, and Red regarding trying to open the folders that the captured videos are in but are crashing with a Error Message “Windows Explorer has crashed” is what I’m running into right now. I started saving by default all the videos to be saved to my desktop so they aren’t in a folder to start with and that allows me to at least use them and view them but it would be nice to put them into folders so I can sort and organize them. Please let me know if there is any update or bug fix for this. I’m on Windows XP Home Edition, Thanks.

  • Same as Jason, Robert, Richwarf, and Red. Windows Explorer crashes.

  • Same prob here too, Windows Explorer crashing when i try to open the folder that contains the vids, can’t delete it without losing all my other vid. I managed to get the vid playing using WMA but it won’t delete it either.
