Hey WeGamers!
User theineffablebob uploaded a few videos of the new NVidia PhysX engine.
- NVIDIA PhysX Particle Fluid Demo
- NVIDIA The Great Kulu Tech Demo Info
- NVIDIA The Great Kulu Softbody PhysX Tech Demo
I thought they were really neat. It’s interesting that, as gamers, we’ve seen such an amazing improvement in technology. Donkey Kong came out in 1981, and the arcade case had to be plastered with pictures of gorillas, plumbers and princesses to let players know exactly what the pixels were supposed to be. Now, only 27 years later, we have graphics and physics engines that can accurately simulate almost every substance known to man, and a few that aren’t.
I just thought it was neat!

Honestly, I didn’t think the fluid particle demo was that impressive. Anyone who patrols the Interlopers.net forum will have seen that a non-commerical coder has already made a fluid particle effects system that looks almost as good as the professional nVidia one.
The softbody demo though, that was cool. I can’t wait for enemies that we can truly rip apart ingame in real time, not having to deal with the premade gibs system present in many games.
