Public Beta 1 Released!
After many months of hard work, the WeGame team is happy to present to the world the first public beta of the WeGame service.
What is WeGame? WeGame is a service that allows gamers to record video of what they do in PC games and instantly publish it online. We’ve spent the past several months developing a free client application that can record video from some of the most popular PC games. The WeGame client is tightly integrated with the WeGame.com site, so all it takes is a simple click of your mouse and your video is online for gamers around the world to watch.
To get started, you can grab the client from our Record page. After you have created a WeGame.com account and have the client installed, fire up any one of our supported games and you can start recording!
Currently, creating gaming videos is a difficult task, but we hope WeGame enables every gamer to become a content producer. If you prefer to stay out of the limelight, you can also just browse some of the latest videos uploaded to WeGame.
We’ve been in private beta for a month and our testers have been able to help us nail numerous bugs. However, we still expect some of you out there to have some trouble with the WeGame client or website (hey, we’re in beta :-). If you run into any problems, feel free to comment on this post or e-mail us at help@wegame.com with a detailed description of your problem. You can also check our our handy-dandy Help page, which answers some common questions.
Hope everyone has fun using WeGame!
Grats on releasing beta 1!

This looks very interesting, and look foward to trying this out.
Will this work on any game, regardless if it’s not on the list, or will a game need to be included on the list for the client to record, and publish to the site?
Please include Runescape, Cronous, Starcraft, and Diablo 2 if you can. :)

Hi Guys,
As you said on techCrunch, here and everywhere else, some comments for a start.
- Most important : it’s a fact, you won’t include in your list every game that everyone wants in the recorder. Since it’s a OpenGL/DirectX layer that can in fact record almost any pc game ever made, the “record only games we here at wegame have tested” lock should be switchable, hidden behind an “expert mode” or something like that to reduce problems with novices. Include a command-line switch or “expert mode” in the options so the knowledgeable can record the directx or opengl game of their choice. Seriously, do it, or the wegame recorder will be remembered as a gimped toy. Plus, it helps diversity for the ecosystem of the uploaded videos on wegame !
Just a hard example to show the fact : I would like to record a “SiN retrospective” video. It would require to work with OpenGL (SiN used the Quake Engine, and Quake is supported by the wegame recorder, but not SiN by name), the Source Engine (same with SiN Episodes : half-life and co are supported, but no Sin Emergence). The tech is here, but I’m locked out. Please, give us the command line switch !
- In the same vein, the beta test should be put in front, since you’ll need help. For example, the beta version could monitor what games are being used, so you know which ones should be included in the wegame recorder compatibility list. Count me in !
- I want a channel for my clan. Do I really have to fire you an email ? I should just have copypasted that stuff in it ^^ .
- I want to be sure the recorded videos can be used in my video editor of choice, so I can edit them in Vegas/MovieMaker/Premiere/etc before putting them on wegame. Add a FAQ with the codec used by the recorder, and the best codec we can output our videos so they look best on the wegame website.
- Already in your list, I know, but be sure there’s a “record anything that comes in and out of the sound card” so we TeamSpeak/Ventrilo users can record our trashtalk. Same here, option should be perhaps hidden behind an “expert mode” checkbox so newbies don’t record by mistake their microphone they left open.
- Another hardcore gaming demand, duplicating my first point : me wants to record my video game console, plugged on my PCI TV card. Add an option to record an alternative video device. That could also help with people with webcams that have a crappy record software bundled with the cam. Most stupid and a bit out of topic, but very cool nevertheless – plus, it’s the same tech being used for both, since it’s about the choice of the video device used for input. That way, Guitar Heroes could record themselves playing with a cam, then record the replay from the console !
That’s it for now. Good luck to you !

Congratulations Jared and the team! I was a little afraid you were going to launch as a competitor when i saw that you had raised 500 000 from True Ventures and were in stealth mode. But in fact im pleasantly surprised by the site you have created. Although video is on our agenda it is however not in our launch plan..
I do feel you would benefit a lot from a strong gaming social network and some great marketing to get that hook well and truely into gamers.
I know the market pretty well having started the professional gaming team FNATIC (www.fnatic.com).
Looking forward to following your progress.. if we dont speak sooner Ill be sure to comment more on the developments.

Hey guys – just got the download and looking forward to trying it out. One game I would put on the radar is Frontlines Fuel of War, coming out in February. Lot of people I know are looking at this game and would love to use something like WeGame to record it.
Keep it up !!

Hello! How are you today? It’s only that i dig your blog so much, and that i think you can start earning a bunch of cash with it. I have a few winning sites that I started bringing in some cash from recently. They are using something called a content blocker widget, it makes visitors fill out a quiz to unblock premium content or to download programs or tools that they need. And every time they do a easy quiz i earn around two dollars. Pretty cool eh? Been making alot more from this than google adsense. Feel free to contact me, or you can check it out through my refferal link. http://tinyurl.com/yevwfst, Regards, Henrik E. Hannsen
